Low molecular-weight dyes such as bromophenol blue and xylene cyanol have been used as a criterion for monitoring electrophoresis. However, since the mobility of these dyes varies depending on the gel concentration and the electrophoresis conditions, problems such as over-run have been encountered. Especially in valuable samples such as RNA, electrophoresis failure is to be avoided.

Unlike low molecular-weight dyes, ^DynaMarker Prestain Markers are based on a nucleic-acid chain frame, so there is almost no change in apparent molecular weight due to gel concentration or electrophoresis conditions, and sharp bands can be obtained.
In addition, prestain markers can be transfered to a membrane, so transfer efficiency in Northern blotting can be checked. It also reduces misidentifying the top, bottom, left and right of a membrane.
