Anti-Tumor Activity Altemicidin

Altemicidin was firstly found in the culture medium of Streptomyces sioyaensis, SA-17588^1,2) , and it shows antitumor activity. Altemicidin analogues with isoleucyl tRNA synthetase inhibitory activity have been found from streptomyces³⁾, and the synthesis⁴⁾ and biosynthesis⁵⁾ of these analogues are being studied.

Application Note

Altemicidin inhibited the growth of murine leukemia L1210 (IC₅₀: 0.84 μg/mL) and IMC carcinoma cells (IC₅₀: 0.82 μg/mL).¹⁾
Altemicidin showed inhibitory activity against Xanthomonas oryzae (MIC: 6.25 μg/mL).¹⁾
LC₅₀ against brine shrimp was 3.0 μg/mL.¹⁾
Altemicidin showed 50% prevention value against two-spotted spider mites on kidney bean leaves at about 10 ppm.¹⁾
