R&D Systems offers a Human VE-Cadherin Quantikine ELISA Kit (#DCADV0). VE-Cadherin, also known as Cadherin-5 and CD144, is a member of the Cadherin superfamily of glycoproteins. It is expressed on the surface of vascular endothelial cells and is required for the extension and stabilization of existing vascular sprouts. VE-Cadherin plays an essential role during embryonic development, but also contributes to breast cancer aggressiveness by promoting the adhesion of tumor cells to the vascular endothelium and enhancing TGF-beta-induced signaling. In addition, elevated levels of soluble VE-Cadherin are found in the serum of myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, and colorectal cancer patients. The Human VE-Cadherin Quantikine ELISA Kit is designed to measure VE-Cadherin in cell culture supernates, serum, and plasma.

Analysis of VE-Cadherin in Cell Culture Supernates using the Quantikine ELISA Kit.
Human peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL), human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC), human microvascular endothelial cells (HMVEC), and JAR human choriocarcinoma cells were cultured either alone or in the presence of PHA, Recombinant Human TNF-alpha (#210-TA) and Recombinant Human IFN-gamma (#285-IF), or Recombinant Human IL-1 beta, as indicated. Aliquots of the cell culture supernates were removed and assayed using the Human VE-Cadherin Quantikine ELISA Kit (#DCADV0).
