Pyridindolol is a relatively small natural prodcut (M.W. <260) isolated and purified from Streptomyces alboverticillatus. It was first reported in The Journal of Antibiotics in 1975¹⁾, and there are many articles on the mechanism of action of pyridindolol and its analogues.

Application Note

Pyridindolol inhibits bovine liver β-galactosidase non-competitively at pH 4.0-5.0 (IC₅₀=7.4 ×10^-6M at pH 4.5).
Pyridindolol has low toxicity to mice (LD₅₀ >500 mg/kg, intraperitoneal injection).¹⁾
Specific inhibitory activity is observed for bovine liver β-galactosidase.²⁾
Simple acetylated analogues show inhibition of cell adhesion factor in HL-60 cells.³⁾
