Polyoxin D is a specific inhibitor of chitin synthase in filamentous fungi.
What is Polyoxin D
Polyoxin D is a nucleoside antibiotic from Streptomyces cacaoi var. asoensis, which is isolated from the soil in Aso area, Kumamoto prefecture (Japan). 14 of derivative is already known. Polyoxin D is a specific inhibitor of Chitin synthase in fungi. Purification and characterization studies were conducted by Kiyoshi Isono et al. of RIKEN, and it is used as a pesticide ingredient and as a research reagent because it is a specific inhibitor of chitin synthetase of filamentous fungi.
