Amidinomycin is a small molecular bioactive compound isolated from Streptomyces flavochromogenes, and it is a polypeptide compound with an amidine group at the terminal. In 1960, Dr. Nakamura and Dr. Umezawa’s group reported that this compound exhibited activity against spore-forming bacteria such as B. subtilis and B. megatherium.1) In 1961, subsequent studies indicated that myxoviromycin2, 3) which was reported with anti-influenza virus activity and amidinomcyin were the same compound.4, 5)
