BioMasher I

BioMasher I
  • Solid samples can be easily crushed using a centrifugal machine. A sample is placed in a filter tube set in a recovery tube, and a pestle (rabbler) is inserted.
  • Two types of pestles: one with O-ring to prevent sample scattering and backflow, and the other without O-ring for easy crushing work.
  • The pestle has a cross-shaped blade at the tip. By pushing and turning the pestle manually, samples, which are hard to disrupt by centrifugation alone, can be ground.
  • To prevent wobbling during grinding, the filter tube is equipped with a tab for fixing the recovery tube.
  • Filter material is polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP). PE filter has smaller pore size than PP filter, allowing for finer grinding.

※ Please do NOT add the buffer in the filter tube before centrifuge, except for fiber-rich samples, like epidermis, mesentery, tail etc.. Otherwise the filter may be clogged, and the tube may be damaged.

BioMasher II

BioMasher II
  • Texture of inner wall of the tube and outer periphery of a tip of the pestle (rabbler) enhances disruption-efficiency of samples.
  • Put a sample in the tube, and rotate the pestle by hand to crush the sample *3.
  • The pestle has a splash guard to prevent scattering and backflow of samples.
  • The microtube and pestle are molded so that they fit without any space between them.
  • BioMasher II can be used to disrupt various samples, such as animal tissue/organ, plants (stems, roots, seeds) and insects.

    • *3 For samples that are difficult to disrupt, an exclusive electric stirrer (PowerMasher II) is available for easy disruption.

BioMasher III
  • BioMasher III has the features of both BioMasher I and II. This model consists of a filter tube with an abrasive surface inner wall and a pestle (rabbler) with a textured surface. After grinding a sample in the filter tube using the pestle, centrifuge the tube. Then, the extracted sample will be filtered and caught in the recovery tube.
  • Both 2.0 ml tube and pestle are autoclavable.
