Psychrotrophic bacteria-derived alkaline phosphatase (PAP) can dephosphorylate DNA ends by treatment at 60 °C for 30 minutes, regardless of the terminal structure (blunt ends or 3′ overhanging ends), just like BAP from E coli. Similarly to CIAP (calf intestine-derived alkaline phosphatase), it can be easily deactivated by heat after use, allowing rapid ligation.
