This antibody reacts well with SARS virus (SARS-CoV) but not with novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) or MERS virus (MERS-CoV).

Example of Use

Identification of the spike antigen in SARS virus infected cells by indirect immunostaining with
3A2 antibody at 1,000 fold dilution
(a) Uninfected Vero E6 cells, (b) SARS virus infected Vero E6 cells

Identification of the spike glycoprotein in the crude extract of the SARS virus infected Vero cells by Western blotting
10,000 fold dilution. The molecular weight of the S protein is larger because of the sugar chain.
SARS virus spike protein is 1,181 amino acids and has a predicted molecular weight of 132 kDa, however SDS-PAGE shows approximately 200 kDa due to the inclusion of sugar chains.
