R&D Systems offers a Goat Anti-Human TAFA1/FAM19A1 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (#AF5154 ) qualified for IHC, Western blot, and neutralization. TAFA1 is a secreted member of the FAM19/TAFA family of chemokine-like proteins. It is expressed exclusively in the brain, with the highest expression levels in the frontal cortex, temporal cortex, occipital cortex, parietal cortex, and medulla, and lower expression levels in the basal ganglion, thalamus, and cerebellum. Although the biological functions of TAFA family members are not currently well-defined, these proteins may be involved in regulating immune responses in the central nervous system by functioning as brain-specific chemokines. In addition, TAFAs may represent a novel class of neurokines that act as regulators of axonal sprouting following brain injury.

Detection of TAFA1/FAM19A1 in Human Brain.
TAFA1/FAM19A1 was detected in immersion-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections of human brain cortex using the new Goat Anti-Human TAFA1/FAM19A1 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (#AF5154). The tissue was stained using the Anti-Goat HRP-DAB Cell & Tissue Staining Kit (#CTS008; brown) and counterstained with hematoxylin (blue).
