Background	The C-X-C chemokines contain a pair of cysteine residues separated by a single amino acid. These chemokines function as chemo-attractants for neutrophils. Receptors for the C-X-C family include IL-8RA (also known as CXCR-1), IL-8RB (also called CXCR-2), CXCR-3 and fusin (LESTR or CXCR-4). Fusin has been identified as the major co-receptor for HTLV and HIV-1; and SDF-1 has been shown to inhibit HIV-1 infection.
