Application Note

IF: Use at an assay dependent dilution. IHC-Fr: (Not suitable for use with parafin sections) Use at an assay dependent dilution. FuncS: Use at an assay dependent dilution. Specificity/Sensitivity	Present on the +/+ 2.4 stromal cell clone, large cells in bone marrow, and a subset of thymic macrophages. The stromal cell antigen is also detectable on the EOMA and BMS2 endothelial cell lines. Reacts with all known isoforms of murine VCAM-1. Murine vascular adhesion molecule (VCAM1), single chain glycoprotein of Mr100-kDa (under reducing conditions).

Cellular Localization	Cell Membrane
Background	VCAM1 is important in cell-cell recognition. Appears to function in leukocyte-endothelial cell adhesion. Interacts with the beta 1 integrin VLA4 on leukocytes, and mediates both adhesion and signal transduction. The VCAM1/VLA4 interaction may play a pathophysiologic role both in immune responses and in leukocyte emigration to sites of inflammation.
