R&D Systems offers Recombinant Human Apolipoprotein M (Catalog # 4550-AM ). Human Apolipoprotein M is a 188 amino acid protein that is secreted by hepatocytes and renal tubular cells. In the plasma, Apolipoprotein M primarily associates with high-density lipoprotein (HDL), although it is also detected in low-density lipoprotein (LDL), as well as in additional lipoproteins. In addition to its interactions with lipoproteins, Apolipoprotein M binds to small hydrophobic molecules including Sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P), Retinoic Acid, and Myristic Acid. Through its association with plasma lipoproteins and bioactive lipids such as S1P, Apolipoprotein M is thought to protect against atherosclerosis.
