R&D Systems offers Recombinant Mouse CRISP-4 (#5017-CR). CRISP-4 is a member of the cysteine-rich secretory protein (CRISP) family, a group of vertebrate-specific proteins defined by the presence of 16 conserved cysteine residues split between two domains. The N-terminal CAP domain is important for cell-cell adhesion and the C-terminal CRISP domain regulates ion channel activity. CRISPs are found primarily in the male reproductive tract where they function in spermatozoa motility, sperm-oocyte binding, decapacitation, and the acrosomal reaction. CRISP-4 is primarily secreted by the principal cells in the caput region of the epididymis. Its expression is androgen-dependent and induced at the onset of puberty. CRISP-4 facilitates the progesterone-induced acrosomal reaction by inhibiting calcium conductance through the TRPM8 channel on sperm.

CRISP-4 Promotes the Adhesion of NTera-2 Cells
NTera-2 human testicular embryonal carcinoma cells were added to culture plates coated with increasing concentrations of Recombinant Mouse CRISP-4 (#5017-CR). After 1 hour, the plates were washed and the number of adherent cells was assessed.
