R&D Systems offers Recombinant Human MAGP-2 (#4914-MG ). Microfibril-associated glycoprotein 2 (MAGP-2) is an extracellular matrix protein belonging to the microfibril-associated protein family (MFAP). MAGP-2 interacts with Fibrillin-1, Fibrillin-2, and Integrin alpha V beta 3, and is thought to facilitate microfibril assembly, induce elastin fiber formation, and promote cell attachment to microfibrils. As a result, MAGP-2 is important for providing structural integrity and elasticity to tissues, and may play a role in tissue development and homeostasis. Fibrillin-1 mutations within the MAGP-2 binding domain have been linked to the connective tissue disorder, Marfan syndrome, and increased expression of MAGP-2 in the skin is associated with human scleroderma. In addition, MAGP-2 has been shown to promote angiogenesis by inhibiting Notch signaling and enhancing VEGF, FGF, and/or EGF signaling.

Promotes Adhesion of BUD-8 Cells.
BUD-8 human skin fibroblasts cells were added to culture plates coated with increasing concentrations of Recombinant Human MAGP-2 (#4914-MG; gray bars) or Recombinant Human CD31 (#ADP6; green bars) or BSA as controls. After one hour, the plates were washed and the number of adherent cells was assessed.
