R&D Systems offers Recombinant Mouse Wnt-10b (#2110-WN). Wnt-10b is a secreted glycoprotein that is primarily produced by stem cells and pre-osteoblasts. It is involved in regulating mesenchymal stem cell maintenance and adipocyte or osteoblast differentiation. Transgenic overexpression of Wnt-10b in mouse promotes osteoblast differentiation, while deletion of Wnt-10b leads to an age-dependent loss of bone mass due to defective osteoblast production. In mouse skeletal muscle, Wnt-10b increases insulin sensitivity and ectopic overexpression of Wnt-10b in a mouse obesity/diabetes prone background (ob/ob) inhibits obesity. Similarly in humans, an inactivating mutation of Wnt-10b is associated with severe early-onset obesity. Wnt-10b is also expressed in normal and malignant colon tissue and can regulate cancer cell growth.
Wnt-10b Promotes Intestinal Epithelial Cell Proliferation.
The IEC-18 rat small intestinal epithelial cell line was grown in the presence of increasing concentrations of Recombinant Mouse Wnt-10b (#2110-WN). Cell proliferation was assessed in a fluorometric assay using the redox sensitive dye, Resazurin (#AR002).
