R&D Systems offers Recombinant Mouse Syndecan-2 (#6585-SD). Syndecan-2 belongs to the syndecan family of type I transmembrane proteins. These proteins have divergent extracellular domains that are capable of carrying heparan sulfate (HS) and chondroitin sulfate glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). Syndecan-2 is expressed in cells of mesenchymal origin, neuronal and epithelial cells, and is the predominant syndecan expressed during embryonic development. In addition, it is up-regulated in several cancer cell lines. Syndecan-2 has been shown to regulate extracellular matrix assembly at the cell surface, angiogenic sprouting during embryogenesis, and the growth of normal human osteoblastic cells.
Syndecan-2 Promotes Cell Adhesion. Adhesion of L mouse subcutaneous connective tissue cells to plates coated with 0.5 µg/mL Human Fibronectin (#1918-FN) and increasing concentrations of Recombinant Mouse Syndecan-2 (#6585-SD) was assayed after 30 minutes at 37 °C. Syndecan-2 enhanced cell adhesion in a dose-dependent manner.
