R&D Systems offers Recombinant Mouse Activin RIIA (#6356-R2). Activin Receptor IIA mediates the pleiotropic effects of ligands belonging to the TGF-beta superfamily, including Activins, Inhibins, Bone Morphogenetic Proteins (BMPs), and Growth Differentiation Factors (GDFs). Activin signaling regulates a variety of biological processes, including mesoderm induction, neural cell differentiation, bone remodeling, hematopoiesis, reproductive physiology, inflammation, and carcinogenesis. Recombinant soluble Activin type II receptors bind Activin with high affinity and act as potent Activin antagonists.

Activin RIIA Inhibits Activin A-induced Hemoglobin Expression.
K562 human chronic myelogenous leukemia cells were treated with Recombinant Human Activin A (#338-AC; 3 ng/mL) alone (red square), or with Recombinant Human Activin A in the presence of increasing concentrations of Recombinant Mouse Activin RIIA (#6356-R2; purple line). Hemoglobin levels in cell lysates were assessed by measuring its pseudoperoxidase activity. The level of hemoglobin in untreated cells served as a negative control (green triangle).
