R&D Systems now offers recombinant human IL-28B/IFN-lambda 3 (Catalog # 5259-IL). IL-28B/IFN-lambda 3 is a Type III interferon (IFN) and class II cytokine receptor ligand. Type III IFNs are widely expressed, but are mainly produced by antigen presenting cells in response to viruses and double-stranded RNA. Like Type I IFNs, Type III IFNs induce antiviral activity, and inhibit proliferation and tumorigenicity in vivo . R&D Systems recombinant human IL-28B protein has undergone rigorous QC testing to ensure superior quality, high specific activity, and lot-to-lot consistency.

Antiviral Activity of Human IL-28B/IFN-lambda 3 in Encephalomyocarditis-infected HepG2 Cells. Human hepatocellular liver carcinoma HepG2 cells were treated with the indicated concentrations of recombinant human IL-28B/IFN-lambda 3 (Catalog # 5259-IL) prior to infection with encephalomyocarditis virus. Cell viability was determined in a fluorometric assay using the redox sensitive dye, Resazurin (Catalog # AR002).
