It is expressed on enteroendocrine cells in the gut where it mediates the positive effects of GLP2 on villus height, crypt depth and intestinal energy absorbtion. After stimulating a cAMP response, lipid raft-dependent internalization of GLP‑2R results in rapid desensitization to GLP2. Extracellular portions of human GLP-2R show approximately 80% amino acid identity with corresponding regions of mouse GLP-2R. |
