Multiple isoforms are generated by alternative mRNA splicing resulting in extracellular domains with three ( alpha isoforms) or two ( beta isoforms) Ig-like domains. In addition, alternative exon usage in the Ig III (membrane proximal) domain results in IIIb or IIIc isoforms. |
