R&D Systems is now offering recombinant mouse Semaphorin 3A (Catalog #5926-S3). Semaphorin 3A is one of six secreted proteins belonging to the Class 3 vertebrate semaphorins. It is synthesized as a disulfide-linked homodimer and requires both Neuropilin-1 and Plexins for signaling. Class 3 semaphorins act as potent chemorepellents to mediate axon and blood vessel guidance during development. In addition, Semaphorin 3A regulates T cell proliferation and platelet activation.

| Semaphorin 3A Induces Growth Cone Collapse. A. E8 chick dorsal root ganglion explants, grown in the presence of recombinant human beta-NGF (Catalog #256-GF), were mock-treated or treated with the indicated concentrations of recombinant mouse Semaphorin 3A (Catalog #5926-S3). The percent of growth cone collapse was assessed following a thirty minute incubation (Collapsed = Less than 3 filopodia; Non-collapsed = 3 filopodia or more). B. Representative images of a fully extended chick dorsal root ganglion growth cone grown in the presence of beta-NGF that was untreated (top panel) or treated with recombinant mouse Semaphorin 3A (Catalog #5926-S3; bottom panel). |
